If you followed one of my recent posts, I upgraded a dollar tree vase and today I did the same thing but took a different spin on it.
To give you all a little back story, my friend Amy is getting married in April and I am helping with some planning, decorations, and whatever else she needs. So I took this opportunity to create several cheap or inexpensive table centerpieces that could be inspiration for Amy’s wedding or any wedding. I will post some different centerpiece options soon.
- Dollar Tree Vase (actually a candle holder but I am using it as a vase) ($1)
- Pearl Stickers, 8mm, 150 pearls (I got mine from A.C. Moore and the brand is “love nicole”) ($2.99)
- Glue Gun
The pearl stickers I got were stuck together by an adhesive piece which you could totally break but I found it easier to keep this piece in tact to be able to glue easier. Now these pearls do have a sticker back but its rather weak on glass and can be pulled off easily. If you are using this for a wedding I recommend a glue gun or some other strong but clear glue.
First, I cleaned the vase really well to give the pearls a better surface to stick too.
I began with just a small little bit of glue along the top of the vase and immediately stuck on the first couple pearls.
Since there is sticky part on the back of the pearl be careful not to let them stick without glue, I let the rest hang off without sticking.
Repeat with small strips of glue and sticking a couple pearls at a time.
I did around 1 inch around because I didn’t want it to dry before I could stick them on. Note: Please be careful with your glue gun, it is super easy to get it everywhere and then it looks like you diy-ed it. We don’t want that, we want everyone to think you paid $15/piece but you actually spent $4. 🙂
Repeat until your pearl fill up 4/5 rows (depending on preference)
With this brand of pearls and this vase, we got really lucky to have 3 strips fit per row perfectly without having to cut the line of pearls. Keep repeating as many rows as you want. This packet with make 5 lines for this type of vase. (I stopped at 4 because I want to use the pearls for a different project). If you are using this for a wedding and need to make a ton of these, you could save money by only doing 2 or 3 rows of pearls. Also, you probably could order several pearl sticker packages to save money.
That’s it, you are done.
I would let it dry for a couple mins but it’s basically ready. Also, feel free to clean up any stray glue. I poured water in right away and haven’t had any problems but if you are going to be doing any heavy water use you might want to test it out.
I hope you enjoy this quick adorable $4 vase.
